Congratulations AMEB Award program’s first recipient – Louie!

We are thrilled to announce the first AMEB Award program achiever - Louie, from Queensland, recipient of the Silver Award!

Louie is a multi-instrumentalist, playing the piccolo, recorder, clarinet, piano and flute! He is passionate about music, and it shows.

"Flute is my favourite instrument because it is versatile, and I can play a range of different styles with it. My favourite piece at the moment is Three Romances by Schumann," Louie says.

Louie is also a dedicated and supportive member of his music community, playing many ensembles, including the Griffith Youth Conservatorium and Symphonic Band. He even won Gold at this year's Ipswich Eisteddfod!

But Louie doesn't stop there, mentoring younger students and sharing his passion for music. "It's great to be part of the music community and support younger students. When I saw that many of the things I already did, because I enjoy them, [were] listed as Contribution Activities, it made me realise how important they really are," he says.

Louie's dedication and talent have not gone unnoticed. His mother, Nicole, says, "Him realising he's really making a difference has been valuable." She has seen firsthand how the AMEB Award program has helped Louie grow in confidence as a musician and person.

Louie encourages other young musicians to participate in the program as he is gearing up to take on the Gold Award next. "I would definitely recommend the program to other musicians my age. It gives you goals to work towards and makes you realise that there are so many important aspects to performing arts apart from just playing the instrument," he says.

We are incredibly proud of Louie and all that he has accomplished. He is an inspiration to his community and us all!
