Meet our first-ever AMEB Award recipient in Victoria!

A huge applause for Victoria, our first-ever AMEB Award program recipient in Victoria, who proudly received a Silver AMEB Award at her school assembly in front of cheering classmates and parents.

Victoria's musical journey has been nothing short of impressive. Victoria not only completed her Grade 5 AMEB Piano exam; she captivated audiences with her performances on both piano and voice in her school’s choir and as an MC. By completing her Silver Award program, Victoria actively contributed her time and skills to support and encourage others to shine in her performing arts community.

Beyond the stage, Victoria volunteered her time at fundraising events and MC’d her piano recital concert, demonstrating confidence and stage presence. Victoria created the program for her mother’s students’ piano recitals, organised her choir’s sheet music and encouraged fellow students to join the school choir with Ms Trimby, demonstrating leadership and organisational skills. We were thrilled to discover these actions and initiatives, which instilled confidence in her peers and teachers who voted Victoria this year's school Music Captain.

How did you find out about the AMEB Award program?
Browsing the AMEB website, I stumbled upon the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards. It wasn't just about performance or exams; it encouraged participation and contribution to the performing arts community. I knew this was an excellent opportunity for Victoria to explore her potential.

As Victoria's supervisor, what impact did the program have on her?
Victoria is driven and always strives for her best. The Silver Award program ignited her creativity, encouraging her to submit unique project ideas. The support from her teachers further demonstrated her passion for writing up performances and the piano recital program for my students.

It was amazing to see her maturely handle the challenges. As a parent and teacher, I naturally wanted to help her. As Award Supervisor, I learned to stand back and see her blossom into a confident and dedicated individual who supported me much more than I knew she could.

Seeing her interview all my students before the performances and create programs was impressive. She even went online to learn how to pronounce the French name so pieces correctly, and that is something I would never think of doing. She was excellent at it and spoke very well as the MC.

From your perspective, how did the program impact Victoria?
Victoria's dedication extended beyond the program. She has always demonstrated leadership qualities. The AMEB Award program helped strengthen these qualities, and I admire her work and support of the choir. We had new students join the choir this year, and I know that's direct because of Victoria. She quietly supported the school choir by encouraging others to join the head-on initiative.

Seeing her acknowledged for her existing efforts while taking on new challenges was truly rewarding, and I'm confident she'll shine as our 2024 music captain.

What did you learn from the Award program?
I learned about the importance of performances and Contribution Activities. Participating in various activities and performances was fun and rewarding.

What Contribution activities did you enjoy most?
I loved helping others! I assisted my mum by organising and preparing choir music sheets. It was fulfilling to contribute beyond just performing.

How did you feel receiving the Silver Award in front of your peers and teachers at school?
It felt amazing! I'm incredibly proud to be the first recipient in Victoria and the second in Australia. I owe it to my teachers and peers, who supported me every step of the way.

Victoria's AMEB Award journey is a testament to the power of passion, support, and a program that empowers young musicians to explore their potential. As Victoria takes on the role of her school’s Music Captain, her journey continues, inspiring others to follow their musical dreams. Congratulations, Victoria! We are all proud of you!
