Saxophone for leisure

Saxophone for Leisure caters to a variety of tastes and interests. It is designed for all ages and explores popular repertoire including well-loved standards from the classics, jazz standards, arrangements of movie themes, popular songs and concert arrangements.



Level 1 (Preliminary - 4th grade), Level 2 (5th - 8th grade) and Certificate of Performance.



One and only one of the following instruments may be used for the examination: 

  • B flat soprano saxophone
  • E flat alto saxophone
  • B flat tenor saxophone
  • E flat baritone saxophone

Grade Books & Accompaniment

Saxophone for Leisure Series 1 (B flat and E flat) grade books accompany the current syllabus from Preliminary to Fourth grade. Each book comes with an accompaniment CD.


Technical Work

Candidates should consult Saxophone Technical Work (1997) , which contains all of the technical work and exercises for all grades.


Digital Recordings

Saxophone for Leisure recordings are now available from digital music outlets such as iTunes or Google Play. Digital recordings can be purchased as full albums or as individual tracks.
