AMEB
Shields
There are nine annual shields awarded for Piano, Instrumental,
Speech and Drama and Written examinations. They are:
1.
Schools Category
A perpetual shield is awarded and can be
retained by the winning school for the succeeding
year. In addition, an individual shield will be awarded
for retention by the school.
2.
Private Teachers Category
For Speech subjects the following two shields are
awarded:
• Preliminary to Fifth Grade.
• Sixth Grade to Licentiate.
VICTORIA
Margaret
Leonard Speech and Drama Award ($300)
Details are published on the AMEB Victoria Website.
QUEENSLAND
Certificate
of Distinction
Certificate of Distinction will be awarded
to each candidate in:
(a) Speech and Drama and Speech in Action examinations
Third Grade/Level 3 and above achieving an A+ result;
(b) Theory of Speech and Drama examinations achieving
90% and above;
(c) Diploma examinations, achieving a Distinction
result.
With the exception of Diploma candidates, Certificates
of Distinction will be released together with the
Examination Report.
The
Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Queensland
Awards
The
Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Queensland
encourages students to continue their studies by making
available special awards for outstanding performance.
SOUTH
AUSTRALIAN & NORTHERN TERRITORY
Prizes
for Theory and Practice of Music and Speech and Drama
$1500
Candidates achieving the highest gradings
in speech subjects will be awarded special prizes
as decided by the State Committee.
WESTERN
AUSTRALIA
The
AMEB Awards in Western Australia
The AMEB Performance Awards are made under
an annual awards scheme designed to encourage students
to continue their studies in Music and Speech.
A
number of special prizes are awarded annually. Contact
State Office for details.
COUNTRY
CENTRES AND LOCAL MANAGERS
Candidates
should contact the State Office for details of the
nearest Country Centre.
PUBLIC
EXAMINATIONS
NEW
SOUTH WALES AND ACT
Further information can be obtained through the Ungergraduate
Admissions Offices of the respective tertiary institutions
in NSW and the ACT.
QUEENSLAND
The
Queensland Studies Authority accepts certain grades
of AMEB subjects for recording on the Senior Certificate.
Details of the recording procedure and grades involved
are outlined in the AMEB (Queensland) Annual Bulletin.

WESTERN
AUSTRALIA
Further
information can be obtained through the Admissions
Offices of the respective tertiary institutions
TASMANIA
AMEB qualifications (Fourth/Fifth Grade Practical or above and Third Grade Written or above) are recognised by the Tasmanian Qualifications Authority and can be recorded on the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) of school students in years 11 and 12.
