    Syllabus Review Process

The AMEB Syllabus Review Process is a consultative approach to syllabus development. We seek input from teachers, examiners, students and parents. Consequently, a new syllabus takes time to develop.

The following syllabuses are undergoing a period of review:

    Oboe

The AMEB oboe syllabus is now under review. Tell us what you think about the oboe syllabus through the Oboe Syllabus Review facebook page or by email.

    Percussion

The AMEB percussion syllabus is now under review.

    2012 Manual of syllabuses

    Violin -

Licentiate - List B; Mendelssohn Concerto in E minor Op. 64 is listed
as Allegro molto appassionato 1st movement and Allegretto non troppo -
    Allegro molto vivace 3rd movement.

This item should be divided into two separate listings: candidates may choose
to play the 1st movement OR the 3rd movement, as listed in the old Violin
syllabus, rather than playing both movements together. The correct listings
    will appear as:

+Mendelssohn, F. Allegro molto appassionato 1st movement from Concerto in
    E minor Op. 64
+Mendelssohn, F. Allegretto non troppo - Allegro molto vivace 3rd movement
from Concerto in E minor Op. 64

If you have any questions, please contact the AMEB Federal Office at

    Piano -
Fourth Grade Section II. Studies and Pieces (page 64)
The first sentence reads 'Candidates must prepare four works, one from each of Lists A, B, C, and D, for presentation at examination.'

This is an error. Candidates in Fourth Grade must prepare three works, one from each of Lists A, B, and C, for presentation at examination. There is no List D in the Fourth Grade syllabus.

Flute and Piccolo Technical Workbook (Revised 1998) -

The following errors have been found in the Flute and Piccolo Technical Work Book

(Revised 1998), and will be corrected in subsequent reprints of the book:

Page 33 (Sixth Grade scale sets):

      ·       Set 2 should record C# for the minor forms of scales and arpeggios rather than C as written (ie. the Set 2 minor keys should be E, G, C#, Bb)

       ·       The keys for Scales in Thirds should be common for all sets as listed on page 32 (ie. C, G, F, D, Bb, A and Eb majors). Scales in Thirds will be deleted from the table of scale sets and the text above and below the table of scale sets will be adjusted to include mention of Scales in Thirds in the discussion of scales common to all sets.
