Public Examinations

Queensland

The Queensland Board of Senior Secondary School Studies accepts certain grades of AMEB subjects for recording on the Senior Certificate. Details of the recording procedure and grades involved are outlined in the AMEB (Queensland) Annual Bulletin. Further information is available from the AMEB Office.

The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) acknowledges AMEB qualifications from 7th grade upward for purposes of improving an applicant’s ranking for tertiary entry. These ranks are accepted by most tertiary institutions in Queensland. Further information can be obtained by contacting the QTAC Office on (07) 3368 1166 or the admissions offices of the tertiary institutions.

Tasmania

The Tasmanian Secondary Assessment Board will accept AMEB work (whether undertaken at the school/college or under private tuition) for students’ internal course work and assessment for the TCE Music Solo Performance component, provided the school/college agrees. South Australia

Grade 5 AMEB music is now equal to one unit for Stage 1 SACE (Year 11). Practical component only of grades 6, 7 and 8 is equal to one unit each for Stage 2 (Year 12). This system is retrospective to 2003.

SSABSA does ot require the theory prerequisite for grades 6, 7 or 8 and to claim the units, students must either present the original copy of their AMEB national or state certificate to their school's SACE student counsellor.

Entry to Elder Conservatorium degree and diploma courses include an assumed knowledge to the standard of AMEB Grade 4 or 5 theory and Grade 6, 7 or 8 practical, depedning on the course.
